This year King Edward VII donated to The Giving Tree at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Greenhithe.
This initiative supports many local children and family charities such as the Ellenor Hospice, (a specialist palliative care provider for adults and children). Gifts are provided for those in need across Kent and the South East region through gift tags. Shoppers pick up a tag with a child's age, buy a present, and return it to the tree for distribution. It’s a popular local tradition for spreading Christmas joy. The Lodge of Improvement (LOI) team collected £1 from each member attending on a week-by-week basis which resulted in a total of £109. The Lodge then bought six presents for the Giving Tree, ensuring that a 3-year-old girl, three 6-year-old girls, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old boy all received a present on Christmas morning.
